Reynolds Coliseum (NC State University)
Reynolds Coliseum (NC State University)
Reynolds Coliseum is a historic multi-purpose arena located on the campus of North Carolina State University (NC State) in Raleigh, North Carolina. Opened in 1949, it originally served as the home court for the NC State men's basketball team and has hosted numerous iconic sporting events. With a seating capacity of 12,400 at its peak, Reynolds was known for its intimate and intense atmosphere, earning a reputation as one of the toughest places to play in college basketball. Over the years, it was the site of many legendary moments, including several ACC Tournaments, NCAA Tournament games, and thrilling victories by NC State teams. Today, the arena's capacity has been reduced to 5,500 following a major renovation in 2016, and it primarily serves as the home for the NC State women's basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, and wrestling teams.
The renovation transformed Reynolds Coliseum into a more modern and versatile facility, while maintaining its historic charm. It now houses the NC State Athletic Hall of Fame, which showcases the university's proud athletic heritage. The renovation included upgrades to seating, lighting, and locker rooms, making it a state-of-the-art venue for both sports and university events. Reynolds Coliseum continues to be a central part of the NC State campus and community, hosting various athletic competitions, graduation ceremonies, and concerts. Its legacy as a historic basketball arena remains intact, as it's still fondly remembered by fans and alumni as the site of many unforgettable Wolfpack moments.
